WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE AN ICT STUDENT?

Being a student entering a nice school is a great gift from God because not all children are given the chances to enter a school and even to experience becoming a student. But what does it take to be an ICT student, anyway?
ICT or Information and Communications Technology is where we learn about computers, more about computers. It is where we discover, find more, and go deeper in the computer world. And thus being an ICT student is a great chance given to me that I won’t waste because ever since, I have dreamed of learning more about computers. I want to enjoy using computers and explore the beauty in it. And by learning more of it gives me an advantage to have better application on the skills that I will learn. And it may also give me help on my every day life and even for my future purposes.
Being an ICT student is a great privilege because not all students that go to school are given the chance to have it. This must not be taken for granted for it only comes once to us. So thus, it takes only chances to become and ICT student.

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

As I dream of flying high, it always comes to my mind my life would be after all these years that will pass. It’s not bad to be ambitious especially when you know you can have it. And another thing, dreaming about your future is a way to get inspired and live more than life we can be in the future.
I, myself have always been dreaming of the best life that most people would wish. As I grow old, I have dreamed of becoming a simple lawyer teaching in an accountancy course of a huge university and when I’m not at school, I am doing my job as a manager of our own family business, a mother to my kids and a wife to my husband. These are just the things I want to be and I want to have to after I’ll finish my education. I want to have a simple life having my family to support me someday, somehow. I always wanted to be loved by the people around me. On the other part of my future life, I always wanted to share my thoughts and ideas to my fellowmen and to fight for our rights even to the highest rank of people in the country. I don’t want to see poor people being discriminated by bossy people. I also don’t want to see children walking on streets weakly; I want them to be educated even on the basics of life for them to continue life with more hope to live. I always wanted to help people even on the things I can do.
But for now, days are getting shorter as we approach our graduation day. I will soon finish my secondary education and hopefully, continue to achieve my goals in life in the next level of my student life. I will always try my best to pursue my dreams and to end up everything alright and happy with all I wanted to be, what will I be, after all these years.

KANNAWIDAN: THE YLOCOS FESTIVAL

The province of Ilocos Sur has recently celebrated its Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. This year marks the province’s 193rd year based on the Royal Decree dated February 2, 1818 separating Ilocos Sur from Ilocos Norte. Prior to this date, the stretch of Bangui in Ilocos Norte down to Luna La Union is called Ylocos which is a term to refer to the coastal inhabitants. It literally meant “from the lowlands”.
Ilocos Sur especially Vigan is branded as the Heart of Ilocandia by the Philippine Historical Committee. It’s a province very rich in culture and heritage. Kannawidan means traditions and this province got to showcase all what she has. On January 31 to February 6, 2011 several activities were lined up for the celebration.
There was the tribal performance of the cultural communities of Ilocos Sur which is so fascinating. They displayed their talents as well as their indigenous costumes. Partuat ken Patanor Trade Fair showcased the products of the province such as longanisa, bagnet, garlic, bibingka, tinubong and many other foods including handicrafts. There was even eating contests of these delicacies of Ilocos Sur as well as basi drinking contest. Traditional games were played and bingo as well. There were Sarsuela and Komedya Ilocana which were shown. Choir competition was also held.

A battle of brains and beauty was witnessed during the Saniata ti Ilocos Sur pageant. Art exhibitions and competitions were also conducted. On the spot painting was done by the Saturday group from Manila while The Ilocandia Photographic Society put up its photography exhibit at the Archbishop’s Palace.
It was a fun-filled week of celebration of the Kannawidan Festival in Ilocos Sur.

MIRROR, MIRROR 3

It has been 3 months that passed since third grading had entered the semester. And now, we are already leaving it again. Every grading period, I always have to get ready for myself for the new erudition to come. What are the discoveries that I have gained? In this grading period, I have learned a lot again.
Through the days that went by, I have learned on how to put up HTML Images. On how to display an image on a page that you need to use the source attribute. The value of the source attribute is the URL of the image you want to display on your page. There is also the Alt attribute that is used to define “alternate text” for an image. The value of the alt attribute is an author defined text. The alt attribute tells the reader what he or she is missing on a page, if the browser can’t load image. The browser will then display the alternate text instead of the image.  Another was the align attribute used to position the image within the text. Either on the left side or right or middle or top or bottom is the alignment of the text. Adjusting the sizes of the images, I had already learned them too. On how I can make a picture larger or smaller changing the value in the height and width attributes on the image tag. I had also learned in this grading period on how to use the HTML Links. There is the anchor tag and the href attribute used to point to any resource on the web, an HTML page, an image, a sound file, a movie, and many more. I had also learned about hyperlinks, hypertext and hypermedia and more on multimedia.
With this grading period, I was not able to encounter any problem because I had deal to them easily. I hope this will continue until the end of the school year. And I just faced these challenges easily because I had understood them without difficulty. Moving on, I will continue myself improving on the technology world and also with the cyber world. I hope I could always join in the flow so that I won’t be able to be distracted.

THE BRAND NEW ME

It was the thirteenth day of December in the year 1995 when my mom gave birth to me as their second daughter. And it was also the day when I first saw the beauty of life that God has given to me. And now, I am already experiencing the luxuries of life for over 16 years. I thank God a lot for giving me this chance to continue my journey of life in this New Year, 2012.
As I grow in world, I have gone through problems and challenges but for this new year to come, I hope to live with lesser troubles that come. With the new days to go by, I hope to have improvement within me. I hope I would develop more skills that will surely help in reaching my dreams. I hope I could get ahead of those dilemmas that made out of my mind in which I needed to do what is not supposed to be done by a kind of girl like me. At our house, I hope I could be a better daughter to my parents so that they will no longer experience headache due to my mistakes. In my studies, I hope I would become a better student in all fields of learning. This year carries a big challenge in my schooling. This year, I will soon be graduating in the secondary level of education. And hopefully, I will now enter a new stage of my life as a student, the tertiary level of education. I hope I will have a good start this year so that I would still have the chance to append more memories in my life. And on the part of being a simple girl in our community, I hope I could help more teen to change their lives and turn a new leaf and see the loveliness of the world. I hope I could make a change despite being a teen. On the lighter side of my life, I thank God for giving me good friends, for letting me know more friends and for showing me the true nature of friends around me.
Gone were the days of me being a bad daughter, a bad student, a bad girl and a bad friend. I thank God for giving me this life. I hope I will always be like a simple girl they used to know. And they will never leave me despite being me. And that I will still enjoy life the way it seems to be.

ILOCANOAK!

Every where we go, wherever our feet direct us, we always carry our own home, on where we came from. No matter what we do, still inside of us is our true nature, the nature of being Ilocanos and especially, our own dialect that we use to communicate every day, Iloko.
Located in the northern part of the Philippines, Ilocos Region is at northwest of Manila and includes area of the China Sea as a buffer zone on the western side of the region. Ilocos is a place like no other because it's where you can find unique towns and cities like the Heritage City of Vigan and Buri Capital San Juan at Ilocos Sur, Bangus Capital Dagupan City at Pangasinan, Bangui Windmill and Sinking tower of Badoc at Ilocos Norte and more tourist spots. But more on this are the way how Ilocanos treat foreigners at the places. With the practices and ways of living of Ilocanos, tourists enjoy staying here. So, they also adores them for Ilocanos know three languages; English, Filipino and of course, Iloko dialect. This is so rare that even some Ilocanos can't learn but still, they always try to improve themselves. Yet, they'll be more proud to say that they're Ilocanos if they know the Iloko language.
We, native people of Region I must always use the Iloko language as we communicate to our fellowmen. We must always keep in mind that Iloko is our mother tongue. And that we should be more proud to be Ilocanos, for Ilocanos are great people. Be proud and say, "Ilocanoak!, Iloko ti dayalekto mi!".

LOVE ALL THE WAY

Every child always wants to receive gifts, presents from their elders during Christmas time. Of course, anywhere you go, a child would always say it. Christmas is the longest running festivity or celebration of Filipinos. When ‘ber’ months start to count, people will already start to prepare for Christmas. Even after December 25, Christmas is still in the air for January is still a part of Christmas.
As I grow in this world of ours, we have been celebrating Christmas with almost all of our family members. Every part of the family shares food for the celebration. Every Christmas Eve, we always have a party to make Christmas more colorful. Christmas anyway, is the celebration for the birth of our dear savior Jesus Christ. It is an annual celebration of Roman Catholics as a thanksgiving to the Lord. Christmas is the time for everybody to learn the true meaning of having friends. It is the time of forgiving those who have sinned to us and it is the time to give love to everyone. Christmas is also the time to reminisce the things we had done all throughout the year and also to learn from them. This celebration is an unlimited commemoration on the birth of our savior; it is for all people standing beneath the ground. Our family always prepare for this thing. We always wanted to be happy during this day and also to be with the whole family to celebrate. I, myself had already been used to be on this occasion, I am already used to see every kind of scenario during Christmas time. But of course, I always wanted to receive gifts from my parents, grandparents and relatives. In my entire living, I never wanted to skip any part of Christmas without my family. During Christmas, it is my time to forgive those whom I hated, ask for forgiveness to those who hated me too, and to be thankful to God to all the blessings that HE had given to me. All of these, I learned form my parents; that eve though we are at the midst of hardships, we must always be thankful to God, for having us and letting us continue the run of life.
In my total breathing, I had been celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. And as for me, Christmas won’t sense without my family and my friends. Celebrating Christmas seems sensible having the true essence of it; forgiveness, sharing, thanksgiving and Love.

THINK WISE, THINK RIGHT

Every people in this world have the right to fight for their own goodness, their rights. And on opportunities, it’s the person that decides for his own advantage. Laws are created to be followed and not to abide. Problems are visiting us to choose the right thing and to tolerate us.
A person is born to live happily. A person is born with rights to be followed. Priority rights of people are to have food, clothing and shelter and of course, the right to live. Other principal rights of people are to go to school and be educated, religious freedom, freedom of speech, press and assembly, criminal trials and due process of law, right on having privacy of a person, and so with the rights of women. These are just some rights commonly acknowledged by people. We, people have many rights and we must fight for them especially if we know that we are correct. We are born to have them in and not to just put them away. And most of all, we are born to benefitted by those rights.
Everyone has its own opportunity to decide. We are all free to choose for our own profit or gain. Opportunity comes only once so we must always think wise in creating decisions in life. Opportunities are blessings from God that we must not take for granted. And being wise in creating decisions leads to happy life and peaceful progress.
We are created by God to live. Rights are to be given to us and opportunities come along the pathways of our lives. So we must always think wise and think right in everything that we do. And remember that we have only one life so we must treasure it, always.

DESPITE BEING TEENS

Our national hero said, “Ang kabataan ay pag-asa ng bayan”. In English translation, “The youth/teens are the hope of our country”. Are we really the hope of our country? Is Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado Y Alonzo Realonda right?
Every time, you see teens all around. By looking to their looks and moves draws an impression of no hope. But first impressions last and don’t judge the book by its cover. They may say that we, some teens are still immature. We may still dependent but in some ways, we can make a difference. That even though we are still young, we can also create a change in small ways. In our community there is what everybody calls the “Sanggunian Kabataan”. This is an organization that is being ruled by us, teens. By this org, we can also make a difference. Not only in our own places but also in our schools where we learn every detail of life everyday, there are school organizations in different fields of specialization that promotes the youth in different endeavors. These organizations let teens get involved in different activities to get them away of accidents. It is also to put them away of unusual habits that lead them to bad things. With the help of these organizations, either in our community or in our school, we can all make a difference.
We may still be young and still can not be independent; we can make differences in our own small ways. That we still can prove that Dr. Rizal is right and that our country can trust us and lastly, we can make a difference despite being teens.

TAKE CARE OF NATURE

Nothing is permanent in this world except the word 'change'. Change occurs when a thing becomes different after a period of time. Climate change, it is the difference of our climate Before and Now.
Since the world had begun, our climate has also been changing. Climate change occurs due to us. Climate change occurs due to our wrong doings. It is due to our carelessness of nature. It is all because of us, we people of the planet Earth. We, people always think that things must always for granted. We don't think that these are blessings from God. We don't put up in mind that these things can also give us a big help, great help. We must have thought of these before we experienced this climate change.
In every blessing that we receive,we must always treasure them. So we must take care of nature so that we won't experience climate change anymore.

MIRROR, MIRROR 2

It has been some months again that passed for our second grading period in our ICT IV and I have learned many things again. In the second grading period, we were able to learn about tags. Tags are used to mark-up HTML element. I have learned that without tags, there will no effects or attributes on each element on the page. That without tags, elements on each page will not become wonderful without these tags.
Tags are really helpful in designing pages on the web, but there are also things that I had encountered problems with tags. First was to always put end tags on each start tags. Even though there are stand alone tags, I must still have to put end tag on them to make it more orderly or properly. Not all tags can stand alone so I must have to put in mind that always put end tags on each tag. Another is one the usage of each tag and the attributes to be put on the tag. I am still a beginner in the world of tags. I am still starting that's why I don't know them all yet. Luckily, I have already learned some of them. I have learned the basics of tagging.I may not know what to do before but I have already adjusted to this activities. I tried my best to understand each tag. I learned each tag that we used so now, there already some tags that I know. And probably, I will know all tags someday, somehow.
Trying to move on is quite hard for everybody. But I have learned it already. Moving on, I will try my best always in our activities so that I will learn them very well. I will listen to our teacher always so that I will know what to do on tags. And lastly, I will not forget the uses of these tags so that I will know how to use them.

ENGLISH TECHNOLOGY

" Promoting Digital Literacy through English Proficiency"
Digital literacy is using technology on literary works. We are now adjusting to the high-tech world. We had already reached the age of computers. Kids, teens, adults and even elders know what a computer is and how to use it. Probably, they had also learned the English language for this is being used on computers. And thus can say now that entering the world of technology also connects to the world of English proficiency.
Technology, especially computers had given a big change in our lives. Starting in our homes, you can already see the help that technology had contributed. Electrical appliances used at home are from technology. We can't be enlightened without technology. Not only homes but also buildings and so with roads/ streets. With traffic and street lights, we can now go wherever we want even on the darkest evening of the night. Enlightened roads lead us to success. Like technology, it leads us to our successive goals in life. So, learning English we can join in the world. English is our universal language. Through this, we can communicate with other people having other nationalities. We can talk to each other using English language. Like in technology, we can have it useful and be manipulated and more literate in digital aspects.
So let us hand in hand, promote digital  literacy through English proficiency. By using social networking sites powered by technology, let us improve the quality of life through English proficiency.

FUSION OF CHEMISTRY AND LIFE THROUGH SCIENCE CLUBBING

Creating organizations in promoting chemistry leads to a better way of living in this world of ours. Through science clubbing, improving life is easier in this way.
Literally, chemistry is the study of the composition, structure, properties, and interactions of matter. Chemistry has done a lot in the improvement of our daily living. It has helped many things to us in many ways. Chemists, scientists who study chemistry have done many researches for our development. Chemists have learned to duplicate or produce large quantities of many useful substances that occur in nature and they have created substances that are very helpful to man. Much of chemistry can be described in taking substances apart. The chemical industry produces materials that are coal, petroleum, plants and other things became raw materials that are turned into metal alloys, detergents, paints, plastics, medicines and artificial implants, perfumes and fertilizers, herbicide and insecticides. Today, more synthetic detergents is used than soap, cotton and wool have been displaced from any uses by artificial fibers and wood, metal and glass are often replaced by plastics.
Chemistry have done many beneficiaries to man. It has helped very much to us and now we are experiencing conveniences in our lives. Through science clubbing, we can promote chemistry and improve more the quality of life given to us by our dear creator, God.

HEROES OF LIFE

He is my superman. She is my wonder woman. They are my teachers. They are my heroes.
What are teachers anyway? Teachers are those people who teach. Teachers teach students that go to school everyday so that the students will learn everything about life. What are heroes, then? Literally, heroes are those who commit act of remarkable bravery or who have shown an admirable quality such as great courage or strength of character. Then how can teachers be heroes? Teachers are heroes in the sense that they help and guide the students to the right path of life.
Teachers are heroes for they save us not to go on the wrong way. Teachers mold our minds to become good citizens of this nation. They direct us to reach our destinations and and perseverance in life so that our hardships will not be wasted. Everyday teaching, standing in front of many different kinds of students is a hard job. Even though it's hard, still they try just to put something in our minds. Teachers are the best. They are our second parents in school. Just like parents, they guide us so that we won't become a fool. They steer us, influence us good manners and proper conducts during situations. They give us advice, they tell the right thing so that we will know what's best to do during problems.
Teachers are great. They show the way to achieve our aimed goal in life. They lead us to the mountain-top of our colorful and joyful life given by our loving God. Our teachers are our heroes. they are our heroes in life.

SUN AND WATER

No one in this world can live without someone beside him, for no man is an island. When I came out from my mother, I had been under the care of my parents.
As I grow up, I am with my parents, my family. I can't live without them. They are always there to help me whenever I need them. Being kind to me and understanding is what I also love them. Care is what they always show to me when I'm with them. They always show their love for me by being hardworking on their jobs, but also give time for us, their children. And most of all, giving their trust on me even do I fail.
The Sun and Water of my Life. My father is Mr. Lorenzo Rojas, my sun. He always makes me happy, he makes me enjoy life by giving good thoughts and inspirational advises. My water is Mrs. Felina Rojas, a simple woman. She is our doctor, our teacher, and our loving mother in our home. Without sun and water, a flower cannot survive. Just like me, I can't live without my father and my mother. And they are my modern heroes. Heroes that always lead me to the path of my reaching goal in life.

MIRROR, MIRROR

Information and Communications Technology IV, is what our specialization in the fourth year special science class, ISNHS. What are the learning/ discoveries that I have gained? Well, I had learned a lot! And I had discovered a lot, too! At first, I didn't know about Internet, its history. But then, now I know that it had just started by the launching of the first satellite, the Sputnik. Internet's definition is communicating through a satellite, transferring data to someone, somewhere. And lastly was on the advantages of Internet to us, Internet had helped a lot in our daily living. What I had discovered? I had discovered how to improve myself. I had discovered how to develop my skills in improving my blog, my accounts.
In every problem that comes to a person, there is always a solution to it for God does not gives problems to be unsolved. These are just tests for the strength of a person. By the way, what are the problems/ challenges that I had encountered? I thought i had only one. It was on designing my blog, I'm not quite good at it that's why my blog is just as simple as this. But how did I address the challenge? I think it was only easy for some. I really don't know before what to do so I asked for help on my friends. And I'm now improving.
Learning to move on is one of my ways to lessen my fears on anything. Moving on, I will continue to learn more on improving my blog. I will try to develop a skill that will help understand many things. And finally, I will discover more things on improving this blog.

AQUINO'S REPORT 2011

State of the Nation Address or better known as SONA is a yearly report given by the president of a country. This is done every last Monday on the month of July yearly. SONA is where the leader reports his accomplishments, tells his finished programs and presents future projects. The SONA is a good way where in all government officials gather as one to hear the report of the president.
The SONA of Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Cojuangco Aquino III was given last July 25. The weather was good and so the speech ran well also. I can say that the SONA was good. State of the Nation Address is once a year only so it is important. Aquino stated all problems of our country and programs, projects done and for future implementation. He also talked on the great works of his government.
God gives us problems with solutions. I  think in the SONA, no solution was heard. The president must have given solutions on the problems so that Filipinos must have been satisfied.

BE WISE, DO RIGHT AND PROPER

Nine months of pregnancy with good maternity care produces a healthy baby. And when the baby  is out, it needs more health care to grow the baby healthier.
The best thing that a mother can give is love. With love, she can fulfill the needs of her baby. But in terms of physical needs, breastfeeding id the best for the baby. Breastfeeding is using breastmilk directly from the breast of the mother given to the baby. This is the best for babies for they can get more nutrientrs, vitamins and minerals from the mother. And this is also exclusive for it is given to the baby only and not to all. And with the right, proper usage of breastfeeding, then the baby will surely grow very healthy.
Breastfeeding is really good for it is highly recommended by pediatricians. When compared to commercial milks, breast milk is healthier. Breast milk is natural while branded milks are commercial. And natural is healthier than commercials. So with wise thinking, proper care and full of love, the baby will grow rich, rich in health.

A MESSAGE TO MR. AQUINO

Dear Mr. Aquino,
It has been more than a year since you were elected as the President of the Republic of the Philippines. What had you done to our country? What are the programs that have you implemented already?
Since the day you have seated at the president's table, I can say that nothing happened. Not merely that nothing but those things you had done are just simply a little. For me, I think you are not yet ready for that position. I think you cannot yet accomplish tasks that a president must have. I think you are still a kid in a way that your mother was still alive, I can say that you can perform well with her guidance.
Six years of service as a president is a long period. I know that you are still at the first step to higher goals. I do understand that you are still at the start. At the beginning to a more aggressive country. I wish that after five years, we are now in a better country. A better country compared to our country before you had seated.
Someday, somehow I wish it will always be okay, because our future depends on you. I hope you will always think of the ways for the betterment of our country, Philippines.

Respectfully yours,
Nathalie Liezel Rojas
